  1. 01Download the add-on ZIP → unmanipulated-messenger-addon.zip. Unzip it anywhere.
  2. 02Open Chrome (or Edge). Go to chrome://extensions. Turn on Developer mode (top right toggle).
  3. 03Click Load unpacked → pick the unzipped folder. That's it — the shield icon appears in your toolbar.
  4. 04Open messenger.com and read a chat. The add-on watches in the background and drops a friendly card in the corner if anything looks off.

unmanipulated is now a real native app (Capacitor). The Android project lives in frontend/android, the iOS project in frontend/ios. Every time you Save to GitHub, a build runs automatically and hands you the installable files:

  1. 01Push the code to GitHub (Save to GitHub). Open the repo → Actions → Build mobile apps.
  2. 02When it turns green, scroll to Artifacts. Download unmanipulated-android-debug-apk to sideload on any Android phone right away.
  3. 03For Google Play, add a signing keystore as repo secrets (ANDROID_KEYSTORE_BASE64, ANDROID_KEYSTORE_PASSWORD, ANDROID_KEY_ALIAS, ANDROID_KEY_PASSWORD) and upload the release .aab artifact to Play Console.
  4. 04iOS: the workflow also produces an unsigned .xcarchive. Open frontend/ios/App in Xcode on a Mac, sign with your Apple Developer account, and upload to TestFlight / App Store.

Honest note: Google Play costs a one-time $25; Apple costs $99/yr plus a Mac to sign. Subscriptions in the app open in a secure browser sheet (Stripe) — Google may ask you to switch digital subscriptions to Play Billing before approving the listing.
